Anxiety

2124798290It never stops.

“Something is going to go wrong!”

“If I don’t do it, it won’t be done right!”

“I’m fine. I have everything under control!”

Overthinking and constant worry are frustrating!

So much responsibility… so little time.

As we shoulder all those responsibilities, we find ourselves growing more disconnected from the core of our joy and contentment. Our delight and happiness become obscured.

We become lost in the obligations that are always clamoring for our attention and effort.

It’s not long before we’re suppressing our emotions, prioritizing others, or behaving in ways that don’t align with our inner selves.

When “one day” turns into “most days”…

We all know what it’s like to be “stressed out” on a given day. But anxiety spills out of that day into the next… and the next.

You feel it: heart pounding, trembling, shortness of breath, muscle tension, headaches, stomachaches, dizziness, fatigue.

Unfortunately, your usual coping skills are no longer working. And when that happens…

Life becomes an assortment of stresses that keep you up at night.

Life’s journey is filled with twists and turns, both joyful and challenging.

While we navigate through the highs and lows, it’s not uncommon for anxiety to cast a shadow on our well-being. If you’ve found yourself trapped in anxiety, it’s time to embark on a transformative voyage by seeking therapy.

Allow me to shed light on the remarkable world of psychotherapy and art therapy, unveiling their profound potential to alleviate anxiety and guide you toward tranquility and self-discovery.

Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that provides support and understanding and fosters personal growth. It offers a safe and confidential space to freely express your thoughts, emotions, and fears. Through empathetic listening and skilled guidance, you explore the roots of your anxiety, understand its impact on your life, and develop effective coping mechanisms.

There are various approaches in psychotherapy, but let’s focus on psychoanalysis as an example. In psychoanalysis, the therapist creates a warm and accepting environment where you can delve into your unconscious mind.

This method examines past experiences, childhood memories, dreams, and seemingly trivial details to uncover hidden meanings and patterns contributing to your anxiety. Psychoanalysis fosters self-awareness and facilitates personal growth by shedding light on the subconscious and bringing buried thoughts and emotions to the surface.

171309098Art therapy, on the other hand, offers a unique and expressive medium to explore and address anxiety. Through creative processes such as painting, drawing, or sculpting, you can bypass the limitations of verbal communication and tap into the wellspring of your imagination – a nurturing environment where you can engage in artistic expression without judgment or expectation. As you immerse yourself in the artistic process, you may discover new insights, express emotions that were difficult to put into words, and gain a fresh perspective on your anxiety.

Art therapy doesn’t require any artistic talent or prior experience. Instead, it focuses on the therapeutic benefits of the creative process itself. You will reflect on your artwork, encouraging you to explore its symbols, colors, and composition. Examining these elements, you better understand your inner world and the complex interplay between anxiety and other facets of your life.

Both psychotherapy and art therapy empower you to confront, address, and resolve the many faces of anxiety.

Through compassionate guidance and evidence-based techniques, they help you develop strategies to manage anxious thoughts and emotions effectively.

As we work together, you’ll work toward identifying triggers, developing coping skills, building self-confidence, exploring underlying causes, and encouraging emotional release.

What does all this look like?

Sessions are conducted exclusively in a virtual setting. It’s important to find a quiet location without any distractions for your session.

Remember, this is your personal time, and no one should be present as a mere observer. If you’re using a phone or any other device, ensure it’s hands-free.

Some additional supplies will be required, which you may already have at home, while others can be easily obtained by purchase or order. A supply list will be provided to assist you. Your supplies should be readily available for each session for art making.

In the initial sessions, we’ll establish a connection, gather relevant historical information, and determine your treatment objectives. Subsequently, we will continue our meetings.

You’re obviously ready for a change…
