Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

I’m based in Saratoga County and can work with clients anywhere in New York.

All my sessions are offered virtually through Zoom.

How long are sessions?
I offer 40-minute or 50-minute sessions.
How do I get started?
I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation. During that time, I can learn more about you and your needs. You will also have the chance to ask any questions and schedule your first session.
What payments do you accept?
I accept all major credit cards, HSA cards, and Zell.
Do you accept insurance?
No, I do not accept insurance. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill so you can submit it to your insurance directly for possible reimbursement.
Why don't you take insurance?
Simply put, there are too many restrictions, and they dictate your treatment. They require a psychiatric diagnosis, which may not always be necessary.
What's your cancellation policy?

If you cannot make your session, I require at least 24 hours’ notice by text, call, or email.

Without a cancellation notice, I cannot provide your spot to another client in need. All clients have their dedicated day and time. If a 24-hour cancellation is not provided, I will charge you the full fee for the missed session.

The fee will be waived in an emergency where 24 hours is not possible. However, multiple last-minute emergencies or canceled sessions can result in the termination of treatment. The continuity of care is important.

Who do you work with?
I work with women feeling stuck, overwhelmed, and disconnected from their dream and inner-light
How can I schedule a session?

Email or text to set up your free 30-minute phone consultation; during this call, we can determine if we would like to work together: (518) 691-5559 or tamicalcsw@waking-light.com.

Where can I do therapy?

This is the benefit of telehealth. Sessions can occur anywhere you have privacy and feel comfortable. It is helpful if you have a place where you can create art during sessions and your phone or laptop is stationary.

How often do we meet?
For best results, it’s important to meet at least once a week. This allows us to develop our relationship so I can understand your needs. However, some clients like to meet more often and that’s ok as well.
Will therapy work?

Therapy will work if you want it to. Like most things in life, you will see and feel the results if you put in the work.

Some people get discouraged in the beginning because it can feel uncomfortable. Therapy is a safe place to explore those feelings and raise your questions. Change takes time, so why not give yourself the gift of change?

What modalities do you use?
I take an eclectic approach, combining creative arts, psychoanalytic, person-centered, and strengths-based perspectives. The core work is always from a holistic vantage point, connecting the mind, body, and spirit.
What happens between sessions?
Customarily, you will have your creative journal that you will utilize during sessions and between sessions. I may provide a prompt so you can leave the session with something to reflect on.
